Etymological dictionary of protistology

Abstract

Over 170 words have been analyzed about their origin. The majority are related to words extracted from programs and texts of Protistology of veterinary medical interest. As expected, most are of Greek origin, following the Latin and the proper names of researchers related to the protists in question. The total number of words analyzed was 168, of which more than half are of Greek origin, which almost always belong to prefixes. 24 % are of Latin origin and most correspond to suffixes. The rest refer to researchers and / or discoverers of the agent in question (10 %), geographical distribution; names of target organs, symptoms, local names.
